Manage HP Workstations and RGS Connections alongside Virtual Machines

HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) Support

Leostream integrates with the native RGS APIs to provide full support for RGS connections to blades, workstations, HPE Moonshot Systems, and virtual machines. In addition to supporting all the features natively available by RGS, Leostream adds advanced session management, including:

  • Monitor and control the user's session based on disconnect and user-idle events
  • Connect to multiple, independent RGS sessions without using Directory Mode
  • Invite users to collaborate in a common RGS session
  • Connect remote users to an RGS session using the Leostream Gateway
  • Gather audit level logs for the user's session, and for rogue user login

Transitioning from HP Session Allocation Manager (SAM) to Leostream

Organizations that have invested in HP Blades, Remote Graphics Software (RGS), and Session Allocation Manager (SAM) want to continue using and expanding on these investments, while exploring the applicability of virtualization and application delivery in their environment. Leostream helps these organizations by providing a single management console for workstations, blades, HPE Moonshot Systems, virtual machines, remote desktop services, and XenApp application delivery, as well as a seamless platform for transitioning between solutions.

Leostream's suite of policy and pool options provides the flexibility needed to satisfy a wide array of use cases. Organizations not only continue to support their existing users, but can provide those users with additional functionality while folding new users into the managed infrastructure.

The Leostream Connection Broker provides the core functionality available in SAM along with an arsenal of additional pooling, policy, management, and reporting capabilities, including

  • Advanced policy assignment that maximizes resource utilization and eases administration
  • Rogue user detection to ensure that no users outside of the managed environment have access to resources
  • Advanced location awareness to tailor user access and experience based on the user's physical location
  • User authentication against multiple, untrusted domains
  • Blade failover functionality to ensure that users remain productive if their primary blades becomes unavailable
  • Audit level reporting

All functionality is configured in the Leostream Administrator Web interface, which is accessible from any Web browser, including browsers running on Chromebooks and tablets. In addition, Leostream provides a Transition Guide for HP SAM to help organizations map key HP SAM concepts into a Leostream environment.
