Leostream Upgrade and Update Policy

Leostream releases software upgrades and updates to provide our customers with features and resolutions to issues found in the product. Releases may, but are not required to, provide updates to all components in the Leostream platform, including the Connection Broker, Leostream Agents, Leostream Connect clients, and the Leostream Gateway.

Software releases fall into one of the following three categories

Upgrades : An upgrade increments the version number to the left of the first decimal point, for example the release that incremented version 8.2 to 9.0.  Upgrades offer significant changes, major improvements, or substantial enhancements over the previous version of the product. Product Upgrades may require the purchase of the new version of the product

Upgrades may contain features that can be obtained only by installing a new Connection Broker. 

Updates: An update increments the version number to the right of the first decimal point, for example updating from version 9.0 to 9.1. Minor versions of the product are generally made available to customers. By way of example, error resolutions and enhancements that moderately increase the functionalities of the product are considered updates.

Patches: A patch increments the version number to the right of the second or third decimal point, for example updating from version 9.0.34.0 to 9.0.34.5. Patches contain modifications, additions, or substitutions made to the product that do not result in substantial performance, structural, or functional improvements, and are generally made available to customers. By way of example, error corrections and minor enhancements that do not substantially increase the functionalities of the product are considered patches.
