Organizations that have invested in HP Blades, Remote Graphics Software (RGS), and Session Allocation Manager (SAM) want to continue using and expanding on these investments, while exploring the applicability of virtualization and application delivery in their environment. Transitioning from HP Session Allocation Manager (SAM)
The Leostream Connection Broker provides the core functionality available in SAM along with an arsenal of additional pooling, policy, management, and reporting capabilities, including
- Advanced policy assignment that maximizes resource utilization and eases administration
- Rogue user detection to ensure that no users outside of the managed environment have access to resources
- Advanced location awareness to tailor user access and experience based on the user's physical location
- User authentication against multiple, untrusted domains
- Blade failover functionality to ensure that users remain productive if their primary blades becomes unavailable
- Audit level reporting
All functionality is configured in the Leostream Administrator Web interface, which is accessible from any Web browser, including browsers running on Chromebooks and tablets. In addition, Leostream provides a Transition Guide for HP SAM to help organizations map key HP SAM concepts into a Leostream environment.
RGS Support
Leostream integrates with the native RGS APIs to provide full support for RGS connections to blades, workstations, and virtual machines. In addition to supporting all the features natively available by RGS, Leostream adds advanced session and USB management to what is available in a SAM environment, including:
- Notification and policy actions on session disconnect events
- Management for multiple simultaneous, independent RGS connections
- Ability to migrate USB device between connected RGS sessions
- Audit level logging for the user's session, and for rogue user logins
