The Leostream Connection Broker architecture scales to support peak demand for user access, delivering a seamless, high-performing desktop experience for end-users. Connection Broker clusters provide fault-tolerant, highly available connections to meet organizations’ most stringent performance requirements.
High Availability
By clustering multiple Leostream Connection Brokers around a shared Microsoft® SQL Server® 2005 Database, organizations ensure users can always log into the Connection Broker and access their desktop resources. Clustered Connection Brokers automatically share system functions without administrator intervention, allowing Connection Brokers that are not handling logins to process other system tasks automatically. A common cluster of five Connection Brokers handles upwards of 12,000 desktops and 25 connections per second.
High Capacity
Organizations can use multiple Leostream Connection Broker clusters to handle a large number of connections and a simple DNS-based solution to scale out connections across clusters.
Data Reliability
Organizations can easily implement standard site backup procedures to protect the Leostream Connection Broker and associated data. In the event of a failure, scheduled snapshots of the Connection Broker virtual machine ensure maximum availability. Connection Broker clusters require an external SQL Server 2005 database, which can be backed up to ensure business continuity.
Failover and Redundancy
Leostream Connection Brokers can be configured and clustered to provide required failover and redundancy, without the need for extra licenses or additional costs. By installing the Connection Brokers in a cluster on different virtualization hosts and creating copies of the cluster in different data centers, organizations can ensure that users get connected, and stay connected, to their desktops.
Global User Redirection
Organizations can redirect traveling users automatically and transparently to their home Connection Broker and desktop. The Leostream Connection Broker ensures that users outside of their assigned geographic location can easily access desktop resources. The Connection Broker automatically and transparently redirects users to either a local desktop or their “home” desktop, depending on the policy settings for DNS and your organization’s business rules.
