Systems Engineer
Position Summary
Seeking experienced Systems Engineer (SE) to work with Leostream's sales team to ensure that the Leostream Connection Broker integrates with the customer's environment and solve their business need.
This requires a broad technical knowledge and the ability to work closely with technical teams working for the customer, Leostream's solution partners, and not least Leostream.
This position offers significant opportunity to learn about some of the "hottest" technology in the datacenter, and to work with some of the most advanced customer infrastructures in the world.
Required Skills
- At least 3 years of IT industry experience in a sales, consulting, or other customer-facing role.
- Flexible, dependable, and capable of quickly learning new products and technologies.
- Broad understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Solid background in networking and systems administration.
- Solid written and oral skills.
Desired Skills
- Virtualization (VMware, Microsoft, or Citrix).
- Remote computing (Citrix).
- Second language
- Scripting or basic programming skills.
- User authentication (Active Directory or Novell eDirectory).
Expectations
- The SE will be responsible for delivering technical solution presentations and demonstrations in briefings and demand generation events.
They must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to present visionary technical solutions to non-technical customer executives as well as IT professionals.
The SE must complement product expertise with good interpersonal skills in order to develop and foster the technical relationship(s) with both partners and customers.
- The SE will be a technical authority for the Leostream product line.
- The SE must also be attentive to new competitive products or market positioning and be prepared to deliver a Leostream value proposition that directly addresses competitive market offerings.
Essential Job Functions, Approximate Breakdown
- Initial Customer Technical Presentations: 25% of job
Typically this involves using a desktop sharing solutions to demonstrate the Leostream Connection Broker to prospective customers.
These are normally system architects and desktop managers - who have a high technical understand and a real problem to solve.
- Customer Presentations: 10% of job
These are presentations to the broader customer team, and involve a wider set of business issues.
- Requirement Documentation : 10% of job
Customers often have key functionality requirements that are not currently addressed by the Connection Broker.
These requirements need to be documented in sufficient detail that the Engineering team can access the time and investment required to satisfy them.
- Solution Development and Deployment: 30% of job
As the customer becomes more engaged with Leostream the engagement changes from the customer "kicking the tyres" to integrating the Connection Broker with their environment.
This process requires the System Engineer to work closely with the customer and Leostream partners to develop and roll-out the complete solution
- Support: 10% of job
There is an ongoing need to provide support to prospective and existing customers.
Often this requires an indepth knowledge of the customer's environment, and hence there is a need for the SE to respond to support tickets.
- Trade Shows: 5% of job
Leostream exhibits at a range of industry tradeshows, and requires System Engineers to work the booth and answer customer questions.
- Training: 10% of job
Leostream trains its business partners and customers. The System Engineering team will need to develop training material and deliver training courses.
